Concept Shoot - “Enjoy”

I have been busy with concept-shoots this month and this is the 2nd topic I have tackled for the Wide Awake message series at Mosaic Los Angeles. I highly recommend checking out the book by Erwin McManus, and giving it a read. This particular shoot is a photo-interpretation of what it might look like to enjoy one’s life…the leaping was born out of spontaneous collaboration with the delightful girls who accompanied me. I loved it so much, I kept making them leap in the air! A big thanks to Caity, Esther, Birkleigh, and Crystal who participated in the shoot. You ladies were fabulous!

Long-Distance Love

Last weekend I had the chance to take some more photos of Chelsea, this time with her special guy, and without the crazy makeup of this shoot. Chelsea and Matt have been dating for about 8 months and are over-the-top in love! They’re not yet engaged (although, I suspect that status may change in the near future) but they are the true blue real thing. Just thought I’d share a few favorites from their session.

This last weekend we did a shoot that will culminate in a photo interpretation piece for the Wide Awake message series at Mosaic Los Angeles. I’m not showing the final product just yet, as it will be publicly displayed at the service soon, but here are some of our “extra” shots from the session. It was so fun to have a makeup artist to work with, and this lovely model, my friend Chelsea. Because the purpose of the shoot was so specific, we did not do a lot of different expressions–we were after that “focused” look you see in many of these shots, but at the bottom of this post you’ll find a few cute smiley ones of Chelsea. Thanks to Crystal and Caity who helped behind the scenes with this shoot. You gals were awesome!

Kelly Wedding Slideshow

A few weeks ago we had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Niki and Kevin in San Diego at this lovely outdoor location. We knew Kevin (groom) when we lived in Seattle some years back, and it was so great to be part of this big event in his life! Every part of their wedding details were unique to them…Have I ever told you how giddy I get about being able to capture the tiny details a bride spends hours preparing for her wedding day? Well this wedding was no exception, and we were thrilled to be able to capture the beach theme! I believe they’ve been chilling out in Hawaii for the past few weeks, so I’m sure they’ve had plenty of time on the beach! Congrats guys! Thanks for letting us be a part of your big day!

Too Cute for Color

I think its about time I share some more recent photos of our adorable kidlets…They are growing so fast, you may not recognize them from the last photos we’ve shared! This afternoon we spent some time at Roxbury Park and had some fun on the swings. Our daughter has never much liked to swing…in fact, I think swinging scared her a bit, but I’m pleased to announce that she’s conquered her fears! She didn’t want to go home after almost a full hour of swinging! A note on these photos: Usually, I process all my photos in color because I LOVE vibrant colors, but I think these black & whites may be wooing me to the dark side.

Like I said, she’s new at swinging…see how graceful she is in the background there? And what a cute brother!

Sweet Family & Happy 1st Birthday

I’m a bit behind on blogging these days, but I promise I’ll be catching up soon! We’ve had a full month of photo-shoots, family visitors, birthdays, and more. I’ll hopefully be posting more of our adventures soon. Here are some of my faves from a recent session with a terrific family in the South Bay. I loved these babies! They are cousins, the older turned a year the same week of our session, and the little one just a few months old. I especially love the last image of the wee babe with her grandparents!

A Refreshing Experience for New Mamas

What a great idea to pamper mom’s who desperately need some TLC but who can’t be away from their wee babes! I’m excited to watch this idea unfold, and want to say, “Way to go, Maisie!” to my girl. Here are some highlights from the first NuMamaSpa day. Niki + Kevin = FUN!

This past weekend, we made a trip to San Diego to take our kidlets to the world famous San Diego Zoo, and meet up with our September 20th couple Niki & Kevin for their engagement session. Niki lives in SD, and Kevin has been trekking down from Seattle as they pull their wedding plans together, so we realized if we didn’t carve out a special time to do these photos, they may have never happened! I’m so glad it all worked out, and we’re looking forward to their coming wedding! After the shoot, we had quite the dinnertime adventure…leaving one horrible restaurant only to go to Niki’s favorite Italian place (A Taste of Italy) for the most memorable Italian food we’ve ever had! Nik & Kev, you’re both so delightful and we had a BLAST hanging out with you!
